With the  amendment to the Telecommunications Act (TKG) of December 1, 2021, the  following applies:

• Fixed-term contracts: If you have a fixed-term contract, you are bound to your tariff for the minimum contract term (usually 24 months). If you concluded the contract after December 1, 2021, you must give a one-month’s notice before the end of the contract. Otherwise, a notice period of three months applies.
• No minimum contract term: The notice period is generally one month for contracts without a fixed or minimum term.
• Missed the cancellation period: In this case, your contract will renew automatically. However, according to the new law, you no longer have to wait a year. You can cancel your internet contract anytime with one month’s notice.

You have the right to extraordinary termination in some instances, such as when the internet provider increases the premium, reduces the service, etc. The regular notice period and fixed term don’t apply in these cases.
